Hoo-bloody-ray.

Not that anyone with two live brain cells would think that the fake stuff was real!

Soap box time - as a farmer who raises 100% grass fed meat anyone who thinks that cows fart is obviouslyt oblivious to the biological functionality of these fore-end fermenters. Unlike vegetarians, who are hind end fermenters and we know what that leads to, these animals fertiliase as they go and improve soil quality with every bite.

Long live meat loving hot headed passionate Italians I say!

You and me both - and may there be many more of us as time passes and the truth outs.

That's another thing which the vegetarians don't appreciate - that we love our animals and eat them knowing who we are eating, who is integrating with our body and soul. Most people cannot understand how I can eat a 14 year old ewe who was born with me on hand in case her mum needed help (they never did) and who's name is on the freezer bag. But they take more than their fair share of dairy products thinking they are being kind to the cow, because the cow is not killed. I would love to take one of those poeple to the dlaughterhouse to watch a new born calf desperately calling for its mum while waiting in line to be killed and having no life, just so the cow can 'have' milk for us. The cow, after 9 months of pregnancy and birth has her baby taken away from her just so we can steal its milk. That is shameful, cruel in the extreme and oh so very wrong. If you want the dairy you Have to eat the meat as well. If you can't do that then don't have the dairy. Eat only the plants and die a slow malnourished death.

Whoops. That was a triggered rant right there.....

Long live our farmers. Difficult times for farmers all over with these 'woke' governments telling us what we can and cannot do. We the ordinary 'humans' need to get rid of these unwanted politicians making policies that are deadly to the human and animal populations.

Not a milk drinker however, I never thought about the cruel process for getting milk to ones fridge. Thanks for your passion & productivity as a farmer. 🙏

No true farmer/rancher does what you're describing here.

Responsible farmers/ranchers raise livestock animals with

fantastic open-range, grassy living and shelter in buildings,

caves or some other kinds of shelter during the night,

through bad weather and when giving birth as well as a few

days or weeks after for sows as the bores will kill the young to bring

the females back into estrous. Also, for pigs, the sexes are kept

separate and barrows stay with females as bores will kill anything

they're not breeding with. Most of us out here LOVE

OUR ANIMALS AND MAKE THEIR LIVES ARE WONDERFUL up until they

enter a facility to walk through a room where they breath gas

and merely go to sleep.

Not sure what I missed here with regard to 'no true farmer/rancher does what I describe'?

Confused.

You're mostly referring to Industrial Practices people as the Gates, Bezos and such perpetrate upon their Industrialized Methods which the basic Family Farmer/Rancher can't possibly imagine. The country was built upon the 'FAMILY' Producer...And, the Corporate Billionaires are always going to be senseless, and cruel as they are at this time in perpetrating eugenics as documented in Nazi Medical Experimentation and Practices on humans on a global scale.

Country MUST stand behind the Farmers and Ranchers in the small, sustainable practices and "No Farmers/Ranchers equal No Food". This is becoming an over-generalized problem with people defining Farmers and Ranchers guilty of what you're describing when it isn't fact. Many of us hate market day...And, it's simply a necessity based upon 'Original Sin'. The horror of a newborn animal of any kind screaming to be fed before being slaughtered is so repulsive and abhorrent to most people; only the most evil person's could ever display such evil.

Expand full comment

yes, I agree, the family producer and small farmer is what must be supported. That said, the problem is not restricted with the Gates Bezos etc. The bottom line is for sure the human greed. That does not ens with the big corporations. In fact, without ordinary people's greed the corporations would not be fuelled.

When you say "The horror of a newborn animal of any kind screaming to be fed before being slaughtered is so repulsive and abhorrent to most people; only the most evil person's could ever display such evil." - the bottom line of that truth is that people do not pay proper prices for animals to be reared well. If people would only dig into their pockets and pay the proper price for meat and never buy the industrially made stuff its production would disappear. That they do not pay real costs simply enabvles the producers, feeding the corporate beast. If we as a population don't wnt to pay then we can't complain about the bad practices. If we want good practice we have to bear the costs.

My point is that vegetarians are misguided in thinking that what they are doing is saving animals by not eating meat - it is absolutely not. If they want dairy then they have to also have the meat. The reality of dairy production is that, in order to have the milk which would be fed to her calf, the calf has to be taken away and the cow milked to retain milk production until well into her next pregnancy. That's the truth. Without eating the product of the pregnancy - i.e. the calf. that baby has to be disposed of. Those are the calves I see in the slaughterhouse. Nothing to do with evil people wanting to kill those calves, it is a fact of life and death. Sure, it's terrible in the extreme. If more were aware then perhaps they would think twice about what they actually shove into their pie holes. Perhaps not. Greed is a powerful driver.

Most people do not, as a whole, eat veal as is is seen as 'cruel' to eat a baby animal even though people don't object to eating lamb and pork which are made from baby and young animals often a mere handful of months old. When folk think of veal they imagine veal crates, which I agree is an abhorrant farming practice. There is nothing wrong with pink veal though, which is simply young beef. No different from lamb or pork.

That is Nothing to do with Gates or Bezos. Those calves are there because peolple want the dairy and won't buy/pay for the meat. As I say, the bottom line is greed. Human greed. From whoever, corporations or the individual, it is still greed, and lack of awareness. How many people have witnessed what I have at the slaughterhouse? Very, very few. Most folk have absolutely NO awareness of what goes into their food, they just want it as cheap as possible. While poeple buy cheap crap on the back of terrible practices those methods will be perpetuated. End of.

He who pays the piper calls the tune. It works both ways. Don't feed the beast. Pay proper prices for properly raised animals and make the best of ALL the whole carcass, not just the fancy bits.

As a hands on small farmer of over thirty years believe me, I know a thing or two about the reality of what actually goes on rather than the sugar coated one sided propagandised nonsense people regurgitate from their idealistic ignorance.

Actually Peter I was meaning the UN.

As a Scot living in Northern Italy Brexit is a shambles. Simple things before are now difficult to do. Example driving licence switches. Carta di Soggiorno (Brits permission to live in Italy). Italian bureaucracy is well known! Can you imagine the nightmare if Italy tried to leave EU?

Although I believe in principal that each country should be a sovereign nation and not beholden to Brussels bureaucrats or part of a United States of Europe.

The UK left the EU. But look at it. W prime ministers one after another, and a W king... still, the European royal family is a whole subject of its own. The UK can't even feed half their people without imports, prices are horrible, and so many of the people simply accept whatever they're told, on every subject.

The UK has not yet completely severed ties and that is the problem. They have been in limbo. Every country in the EU was better off before they joined the EU.

Indeed so. As Karen says we have not severed the ties fully and that is the problem.

The other teensy weensy problem is that Germany didn't want us to leave and spoil the Fourth Reich plan to take down the UK. It has used our money to bolster Germany which did rather well out of the EU and no doubt still does.

We still have Gina Miller agitating for rejoin and that Nazi piece of work Guy Verhofstadt who is sticking his nose in where its not wanted.

Ms Miller is not even British by birth and Guy Verhofstadt is Belgian! They can go shove their rejoin where the sun doesn't shine.

EU needs to be disbanded. What were the people of Europe thinking?? Why would they give control of their country to a bunch of bureaucrats who don't even live there? The best (and maybe only) democracy is LOCAL. the worst is empire where you have bureaucrats 2000 miles distant telling you what you can and cannot do in your own backyard. UK had the right idea: Exit the EU!

yes, and that is a horrible form of government. We, and most of the rest of the world, have government ass backwards. What we SHOULD have is this: Local government should be at the top of the hierarchy. That is, when the locals make a decision about what can or cannot happen here in their own backyard, it should NOT be able to be overruled by State or Federal bureaucrats. Likewise for decisions made at the State level, they should NOT be able to be overruled by the Feds. But we have it backwards: Feds can tell State AND Locals what they can and cannot do, and State can tell locals what they can and cannot do. When will we figure out that Local democracy is the only true democracy, and empire is a horrible form of government?

But you have to admire how Texas is saying "Scru u" to the feds and SCOTUS and abiding by the organic Constitution to protect its borders.

Expand full comment

yes. I believe that's what the Founders intended: a confederation of independent states where the states have most of the power. Lincoln changed all that, so the states are now subservient to the feds.

Expand full comment

But, I believe that's changing. For example, Louisiana senators just unanimously passed a law that states that no rule, regulation, mandate, tax or fee will be imposed on Louisianans by WEF, WHO or UN.

And what about all the states who have sent their National Guard units to support Texas in defending the border?

And Georgia legislature has passed a bill blocking hostile foreign nations from buying farmland in the state.

More and more, states are flexing their legislative muscles.

the citizens of Europe didn't have a vote on joining the EU, it was all done by the corrupt governments (whom, I'm sure were handsomely paid). Now, Croatia has joined and having visited there this summer (and three other times in the last 7 years), prices are very high now, whereas before with their own currency, the kuna, prices for goods, hotels, etc., were inexpensive.

Those bunch of criminals, anti democratic (you can read hundreds of legal considerations about it even on mainstream Wikipedia) are not accountable by their own rules, so they do and act as real Nazi use to do 90 years ago,

Another piece of their criminal acts it's the recent Digital Act that give them the power to Censor who they think or what hey think is Misinformation. Typical Nazi view of free speech.

EU System and Institutions have been only created to ensure to US, Corporations, Wall Street criminals, one only institution to discuss with and lobby in, to get the worst for Citizens and the best for them.
