I think it is debatable whether we live in a democracy. The Western political systems diverse, but largely consists of an oligarchy masquerading as a representative democracy. Plutocracy might be a better world. What is a government anyway, when the leadership is spineless, genuflecting to power and money, and heedless of the welfare of the public? A joke, is closer to the truth.
