I think that we will find that electric cars are useless after ten years. That will mean that those who rely on the used car market in order own a car will be screwed. Not everyone wants, needs, or can afford a new car. But there will be no choice if electrics are forced on us. And there is no way that the grid can handle them.

So the formerly middle class will learn the joys of mass transit.

The rich get the cars and the rest of us ride the bus.

Great plan.... and it IS planned.

Interestingly, I have learned from a credible source that the particulate pollution from BEVs is far worse than from gasoline cars, because it is mostly nanoparticlea of highly toxic metals, not mostly carbon like it is from gasoline cars (although there is some brake dust also).

Did you see NYT saying a 300 mile range on a battery is too much.

30 miles is plenty.

The communist state of California wants to ban fossil fuel cars by 2035. It says, it "includes gradual stages requiring that more than a third of cars sold in the state by 2026 and more than two-thirds by 2030 be zero-emission vehicles." Implementing this is more difficult in USA since people can go to another state to buy a car and they would have to prevent cars from the other 47 contiguous states from driving in -- both travel and moving.

These things will not come to pass -- the worldwide dictatorship is crumbling.

Crazy. I tried to zelle pay $400 to my husband last week. He had never used zelle so I just added him as a payee. For sone reason this triggered all sorts of alerts and I was locked out of my account. Bizarre. I had to call three times to correct it. They kept asking what the money was for. We always write cute silly stuff on our memo lines when we use venmo so I wrote: “for your good looks” They literally started asking me how long we’d been married and what the money was for etc. I guess they were trying to prevent fraud (which I appreciate as I recently had an aunt scammed out of $13k) but still the whole thing was just weird.

It's easy to fix this. Everyone with an account at this bank, needs to pull out their money immediate. Vote with your dollars.

Anyway to stop this?

What if the proposed changes go beyond mere government incompetence and ignorance?

What if they’re so ideologically driven that none of the negative consequences matter?

“EV's will not be able to tow caravans or perform in the rugged outback…” (Perfect! We don’t want people travelling.)

“trying to round up cattle over thousands of acres with an un-rechargeable 4WD utility…” (Perfect too! Cattle emit too much methane anyway and are dispensable.)

Have they considered the fact that EV's will not be able to tow caravans or perform in the rugged outback where only a diesel or petrol has the power and range. I wouldn't want to be a farmer or station owner trying to round up cattle over thousands of acres with an un-rechargeable 4WD utility.
